Creating while cleaning

I am cleaning up, maybe it doesn't look like that when you see these pictures. Well, this is actually my way of cleaning. I go through all my fabrics and laces and then recycle them into one of a kind wearable items. This is a fun way of cleaning, it is not fast though, but very rewarding and that is what counts for me.

Circular reversible felt vest

I sold this reversible circular vest yesterday on the market. I loved it, my daughter loved it and my neighbours on the market loved it. And still it went to someone else, lucky person. It is a great lesson to learn to let go. I will though make a similar one maybe this week. I love using recycled materials, lace and doilies in felt. It is such a great way to reuse them. All the colours in this one were natural dyes, lace included.

 

Introducing Isabel

I know I have been absent for a while. However, I was working and got side tracked by enjoying work in the garden more than feltmaking.
I found this great woman at the "waste transfer station". I decided to give her a nice white coat of paint and here she is, working for me. Isabel is great, always willing to model and in a good mood, she leans a bit over to the right, but that's okay for me. She wants to be carried though. Well, I am happy with her and in between modeling she shares my bedroom. And so, I have done my regular task of recycling.

Etsy Finds - Dust team: Necklaces

Members of the Dust team, a group of Australian sellers on etsy, have a great variety of handmade art and craft goods to offer.
I came across a few beautiful necklaces today and thought I might as well share them.

The Jungle Queen Necklace looks gorgeous and is made out of ceramic beads made by hannahfaerie herself. She has lots of beautiful jewellery in her shop.

Over the Rainbow was made from deep red faceted garnets, light green peridot chips, faceted citrine, hematite discs and a few blue glass beads. You can find a lot of information about the stones in gypsyrosecreations' shop.

Recycling fabric scraps

I like to keep all my scraps and don't like the idea of throwing them away. Often I come across my collection of forgotten treasures what someone else would probably throw out.
Being in a cleaning up mood, I found some bags with tiny leftover fabric bits and was wondering what to do with them.
We need some cushions, wow, great idea. I use them for cushion fillings, they are too small for anything else anyway. Everything goes in the cushion bag: cotton threads, silk bits, felt snippets.
Cleaning up can be fun after all.
